The aim of this module is to provide information to health professionals working with laryngectomy patients to optimize rehabilitation outcomes. This video shows surgery for cancer of the voicebox (larynx).

What is Laryngectomy
Laryngectomy is a surgical operation which removes the larynx and separates the airway from the mouth, nose and esophagus. This procedure is usually performed due to laryngeal cancer.
The different operations to treat cancer of the larynx are through: endoscopic resection, partial laryngectomy and total laryngectomy.
